Why Is Flow 93-5 Playing Natasha Bedingfield?!!

According to R&R's playlist of Flow 93-5 (CFXJ-FM), an urban station (moving to CHR-rhythmic), they've added Natasha Bedingfield's "These Words," which might end up on R&R's CHR-rhythmic charts. Flow won't be goin' mainstream, BTW. "These Words" is a pop song, and it sounds more like an urban song. Is it produced by some urban producer?
Edited by PassDutch on 08/31/05 11:46 PM.

Because Flow sucks. Oh, and the women like the song..

I would rather listen to 93.7 WBLK from Buffalo than listening to the reggae crap, and unfocus urban The FLow.

I'm not going to trash flow, but I will duely note that for those in Toronto who wish they could get 93.7 instead, I strongly recommend they invest in a TS-2 antenna. It looks a bit like a fishing rod or something like that, but it works!
______________

How much does a TS-2 antenna cost? What stores sell it? Or can I order it online?

You can try www.baybloorradio.com
The antenna retails for $119.99 CDN plus taxes. (2004 price though, and may have increased or decreased since that time.)

Remember to check with the store return policy before purchase, just in case the antenna fails to function as well as the store claims it does.
______________

You don't get it Passdutch

These Words is an urban leaning R&B Song. It is British, and was released in months back in the UK. Natasha is Daniel Beddingfields sister.

It makes sense for FLOW to add the song. The problem isn't FLOW, but the snobbiness of American Urban Radio. These are the same stations that refused to play Eminem, regardless of his involvement in Rap (and his birthplace in Detroit the home of Motown).

Adding Natasha Beddingfield makes sense. Just because CHUM plays it, doesn't make it a bad song. It's not FLOW with the problem, it's everyone else. It's urban music...and white people CAN create urban music.

Buzz off! Eminem was born in Kansas City, MO.

www.Eminem.net/biography/ will verify that Passdutch is correct...me thinks someone was just testing to see how much Passdutch really knows.
______________

Re: You don't get it Passdutch

No Yezi, I'll admit I am incorrect on his birthplace. My mistake is my mistake.

What I get tired of is PassDutch's "Buzz Off" answer. He believes that by pointing out MY error on Eminem's birthplace will override the fact he completely ignored what I said.

And regardless, Urban Radio in the USA did ignore Marshall Mathers. WJLB in Detroit plays him, but I don't recall Eminem tearing up the urban playlists of the major players in the USA. And that's the same for Natasha Beddingfield...

It is an urban song. It is R&B, it has a heavy slow bassline....it's just sung by a white British chick.

Then again, American urban radio ignored Dizzy Rascal and the even more popular Lemar.

That's why most urban stations should sound all black, and U.S. CHR-rhythmic stations play Eminem. Eminem would exclusively be charted on CHR-rhythmic, CHR-pop or alternative, but fewer urbans would play him.

Sorry to cut in on an old conversation

V-100 in Milwaukee (WKKV) Urban

In the mid 90s they played Celene Dion - Because You Loved Me
They played all of Eminem's hits
They played the daylights out of Bubba Sparxxx

WJMR in Milwaukee Urban AC

In 2001 they played Remy Shand - Take A Message and his other song Rock Steady (I think)

Now we got Joss Stone. And its also not uncommon to hear Hall & Oates on WJMR.

In Chicago, WGCI and WPWX have been playing Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl"

So there you go. White artists on Urban
