I thought when they went digital it would be gone forever. I'm hearing it in Cullman.

I checked several radios and heard nothing. Could it be signal leakage from CATV? About 25 years ago, I had a boombox with full ch. 2-83 audio, and could hear TV audio on both the RF channel and corresponding cable channel.

It likely is some type of unlicensed, operation in Cullman, because I can't hear it over here in Battleground. There is a 101.7 though in Town Square Shopping Ctr in Cullman. They air Fox News Channel, and I don't know where they are coming from, but you can't hear them after you leave the big parking lot.

I also thought of CATV leakage, but Fox 6 on their former audio freq. just seems odd to me.

If fox 6 is still channel 6 on CATV i guess i could see it. DTV over here....so i don't really know.
Tallred, i am pretty sure that's the gym over there in town square in the old walmart building. They kill 95.1 too for some reason...

i am guessing but they seem to be still broadcasting their analogue signal on an intermittent basis. they are tweaking the digital signal so as to get the utmost coverage. even so their over the air dominance in alabama is over. their new digital signal covers about 4/5 of their old analogue.

i still get the 87.7 ghost about an hour a day here in margaret, alabama.

Duncan: If I understand correctly, WBRC is in a "phased" transition. They are not completely updated yet, and will be fully transitioned by August 12th. I am not sure about them, but some stations have special authorization from the FCC to temporary broadcast at low power levels in Analog until the transition is complete.

Jay: your idea about the 101.7 being housed in the Gym at Town Square is close to my guess. I thought it may have been coming a few stores down at Radio Shack.

hey guys, sam the record man here. funny that my first post on a radio board is about teevee! lol

isn't WUOA-DT on channel 6, or have they shut down to let WBRC back on in analog?
