Why Is Indy Not a Separate City/Market Forum Topic?

That is an interesting statement. I don't comprehend it, but interesting none-the-less.

Does the traffic on this discussion group have anything to do with what Indy is, or what Indy looks like? It simply is a reflection of the people who post here.... and they alone do not make the whole of Indy. Would you sleep better tonight if you could turn on the computer one more time and look at a screen that makes Indy look big time?

I called Indy home for 33 years. I would still be there but we decided that when we reached retirement age we didn't want to be living in a climate that has the prolonged winter of the Midwest. Part of the charm of Indy through the years was that it was "small time" in so many ways. If I wanted big time, I would have worked my way to Chicago or NYC. Today I have big-time: it's called 'HOTlanta. We have an Atlanta board and a Georgia board at Radio-Info. And there are days when these two discussion boards may be the only thing around that do so, but they can make both the state and the city look "small time".....

Take some advice from a "senior statesman" of sorts: Re tune your receiver. Find something worth worrying about and getting all worked up about. Worrying about this board can make YOU "small time"....
 
The geography of Indiana with Indianapolis sort of in the middle makes it make more sense to have Indiana as one board. Youd have a board for Evansville and South Bend? Somehow doesnt work.

Good grief, that's a bit extreme...I'm not all worked up at all, just noting that people in Indiana seem to have an inferiority complex and there's no good reason for it. I think they should get out front and act like they're big time because they are. I've been in Dallas for 30 years and work in LA and other large cities during that time and see little to consider them superior to Indy. In fact, I will always prefer the rural ans small town life in Indiana...I put it up against living almost anywhere else. (provided you have suitable employment so that you can enjoy it)

Nope, I never suggested a board for the smaller markets...I don't oppose it, but I don't think there's enough activity there...Now at one time Terre Haute had 13 radio stations and 4 TV stations and I would have liked to have known the goings on at each one, but was never very likely occurrence that all the dirt would have been publically available on a web site (had there been such a thing as web sites back then :)
 
My point was an Indiana board without Indianapolis would be covering geographically far flung areas..Evansville and Fort Wayne are almost 300 miles apart.

Hmmm, well Lubbock and Harlingen are 1000 miles apart and still in the same state.

I wouldn't suggest that, only that all "major" cities have their own board. Major to me is anything larger than maybe ~500000.
 
San Antonio and Austin are both larger markets than Indy. These Texas cities don't have their own
boards. This makes Texas look small when we all know Texas is large. You need to help your Texas
communities in the cause of getting them their own boards. Then, ya'll come back here and fix the
Hoosier board. Good luck!
 
But you can't use Texas as your "Gold Standard" in establishing size and standards.

I remember well the days before Alaska became a state. Back then, EVERYTHING in Texas the biggest and/or the best. I remember well the ugly fight at the state Chamber of Commerce back then.

We ALWAYS have the biggest and the best. Well, what do we claim for our midgets? Do we have world's biggest midgets, or do we have world's smallest midgets?
