Why is KPRC-AM not on HD sub channel ?

I don't understand this. Clear Channel has 790 & 740 on KKRW's subs. They could easily open up an additional sub at KTBZ or KODA for KPRC but they don't. Anyone know what's up with that?

Does CC have the Comedy channel on HD in Houston? They have it in the Triangle on HD and the 103.3 translator.

CC could always add KPRC as a HD4 of KKRW. Talk formats don't need the digital bandwidth that music does.

Somewhat surprising there are no HD4's in Houston. Austin has two.

Not really, you have to parse out the bandwidth so tight to get HD3; HD4 makes it even slimmer. You need extra audio cards & licensing for your importer, And bandwidth to the transmitter depending on you setup.

I imagine since both HD 2 channels on KTBZ and KODA are both occupied by music formats, that would be the reasoning behind why there is no HD3 as it requires more bandwidth. Whereas KKRW HD2 & 3 are talk based and probably use half the bandwidth, that being why its able to accommodate 2 stations
