WHY IS 'LIVE WITH REGIS AND KELLY" PICTURE QUALITY SO BAD?

I saw a couple of minutes of it the other day on WIS TV Columbia SC. The picture quality can best be described as fuzzy (as opposed to sharp). And the color looks faded. I'm guessing it's not in HD but it doesn't even appear to be up to SD quality!
What's up with that?? Anybody else notice this in other markets?

I haven't noticed any problems on WGN-TV in Chicago. The show however is in HD. So it might be a problem with your local station, either with their signal, or the signal WIS-TV receives from WABC, if showing the program at 9am EST.

I've noticed that too on WHDH, the NBC affiliate in Boston! And it IS in HD. It's been like that for years. I thought I was the only one who noticed it.

WHDH and WIS are in 1080i, but Regis and Kelly is produced in 720p. You may be seeing artifacts from the cross-conversion.

That said, I remember thinking the opening graphics looked like crap when I worked at WDBJ and could see the raw source...
