I think he was doing ti as a stunt, to promote his "all-request" show on Friday night. He was playing like that Ashley Simpson/Pink sounding music which I associate in my mind as the type of music the girls on Laguna beach would listen to. After the first break he went back to playing hip-hop and reggae.

This station has not been Chr/R since they fired all there Dance music D J's ( mid 90's ). This station is Urban ,with a Chr/R Tag ( aka WPGC Washington, 102 Jamz NC , and Hot 93.7 Hartford Ct ).

Hot 97 should stay at their normal format and not change they're doing fine where their at. Stay as a Hip Hop station. That would be good. It's not broken, so why fix it?

WOW! That's the most songs Hot 97 has played in a row that did not feature R. Kelly in any of them! :eek:
 
This week Mr. Cee opened the show with the soundtrack to my Frshman and Sophomre years of High School. brilliant!

(almost as hot as that Uncle Murda new york Song)

and now he's playing "Where My Dawgs At?" great...great stuff.
 
My fantasty but not happening Hot 97 returns to its beginnings as a Dance/CHR station! Well at least we got HD-2 to hope for.
 
I liked the mix. I love rap. I only hope that the focus of rap shifts from the slowed Southern sounds back to the New York Rakim-influenced fast flow.

very interesting but so far their ratings are still sky high so even though i would love them to flipp back to dance CHR radio i wouldnt bet on it.
 
Oldies 101 was billing $30 mill a year and no one could believe they were flipped so you never know what the strategy might be until one day you turn it on and find out it's something slightly different.
