Savannah's isn't a major destination in the career track of most people. To be the GM of market 159, one should be a GM of a smaller or unrated market (like the last guy), or an OM, BM, or more likely, a GSM of a larger market looking to move up the corporate ladder. If you're a GSM, you're making a comfortable living whereever you're at and I'd be a little less than anxious to leave that environment for the wilds of the Coastal Empire.

I'm not saying it was, but putting someone in charge of several million dollars a year, you need to make sure they check out. Budget-wise or whatever.

A cluster can run on auto pilot for a while, esp Savannah. They're smart people. The OMs now-a-days handle most of the programming decisions, and the sales management can do what they do. Today's GM is more-or-less a "stick a poker under sales' arse to get more money" manager.
I'd rather them wait a few months and get the right person in over get a warm body in there now and have it blow up in a few months anyway.
