Why Is Shop NBC Becoming Shop HQ?

NBC has started a new Sports TV Network, new Radio Sports Network, even a Radio News Network a couple of years ago. They seem to like having different networks named "NBC." So why are they taking the "NBC" out of their shopping channel?

It was ready to go in 2010 once the Comcast merger gained steam, but they gained a little time to sell off non-essential assets, which ShopNBC was; they just licensed the trademark to the channel and never really had a true stake in it or need to out-do QVC or HSN.

NBC Universal did have a 40% position in ShopNBC. While not a majority, I'd call that a substantial stake.
