Why is static worse in newer cars?

Had both a 72 and 77 Chevy Monte Carlo having Delco premimum stereo systems with windshield glass antennas and both had outstanding AM and FM reception with zero internal electrical trash. Did a lot of traveling from Florida to New England and back and the reception and fidelity of these systems were very
reminiscent of my 1963 Impala AM only Delco and 1966 Chevelle Malibu with one of the first Delco AM/FM stereo factory systems with the big ol Delco DS-501
audio output transistors

the older Crhyslor Roz Radio's were good on AM and FM too. Didn't blend to mono unless the signal got really bad and the AM was stereeo too! the RX 360 Lexis is okay but i dont think its as good as the Chryslor was.

Maybe this is an apple to orange situation but I put my 2007 Camry in the shop and the FM signal is lacking in my sister's 2000 Camry. In my car, 104.5 comes in just fine when I'm in South Brunswick but in my sister's, there's interference from Q104.3 when the car moves.

The most notoriously bad car stereo system in history was the Toyota Supra during the mid 80's, I paid over $25.000 for this wonderful car.....a lot of money in
those days. Complaints came into Toyota from owners across the board. Due to its dash design and and speaker system it was not an easy candidate for aftermarket replacement. Stereo would blend in and out when within a 5 mile radius of any class B FM, anyone (non technical) riding with me would ask whats wrong with your radio? Horrible audio quality, very low audio output, and AM full of ignition noise. Though I liked the car, my aggrivation with it grew so intense as Toyota never offered a solution so I dumped it and never bought another Toyota. This Toyota problem received nationwide attention in newspaper automotive columns and car magazines. During that period of Toyota their stereos were manufactured by a company called Fugitsu-Ten, quality of a 1955 Japanese transistor radio that were always the butt of jokes.
This car also had a windshield glass antenna that barely functioned, I had excellent results with windshield antennas with GM Delco systems.

is there anyone still putting AM Stereo in new cars or cars with wip antenna's? It seemseveryone has gone the route of inside the front windshield.

Speaking of Toyota issues, my FM radio has some serious static when I turn on the back defogger, forcing me to go to AM. Which is a shame because the audio quality is otherwise awesome (maybe a little too awesome since my mom always complains about how loud it is when the volume goes over 6). To fix it, they would have to replace the entire back window, which costs $1200. Not worth it when the warranty ran out.
