Why is the MDA Telethon no longer on WPVI 6 ABC?

Simple ch 6 is owned and operated by Disney/ABC and it probably wouldnt be a good idea for them to cancel 20 hours of news and network programming to carry a fund raiser.

Indeed. And the telethon being on channel 17, wiping out a day of Springer/Maury et al creates a lot less "air polution" for at least one day.
