Why is WGTM Off the air

I have a question why is am 590 WGTM off the air? The towers are still standing. the building is still there.

Power is out at the xmtr site. Wilson power killed it 4-5 weeks ago

Jim A, three guesses, two don't count. To the DJ, I would not move the site. other than a tower being a little off, That site is good. Conductivity there is better than most places in Wilson County. It would take some work, but that site was chosen for a reason. I wold, however cut the trees and pull all the roots, move that tower and re-lay the ground system. I wold call Stu Graham, and have Kintronic make a new phasor and ATU's. I
would check with Stu to see if more power could be had.Even if it is 1-2 kw more it would be worth the effort. even with everything as it is now, before power was removed I did a test. With 5 amps common point, day pattern, the station was readable in Morehead City. That is about 120 miles as the crow flys. It was not pretty, but it was there

I can see his point, that is a strong station where it is now, i can remember years ago hearing it a little bit in Wilmington, i hope someone will get this legendary station back on the air soon.

At one time, you could sweet-talk a utility into not cutting the juice to your transmitter site. "Those towers endanger air traffic when the lights are off..." would buy a little more time. But GTM's lights have been off (illegally) for over three years, so that argument wouldn't work.

I really hope the owner didn't mortgage the land below the towers. If she did, you won't hear 590 anytime soon.

The cash is all gone.

If the WGTM tower lights have been off for 3 years, has:

1 The FAA been told
2 The FCC been told

How is this possible to have gone on for so long and no one has reported it?

Todd, I'd be amazed if anyone associated with Spirit even knows this board exists, but good try!

Have they moved the studio to Ward Boulevard? I spied what appears to be an STL antenna across the street from the school bus garage.

Yep. That's where the studio is now.

Do you think that the STL path will work well without adjusting the dish at the tower site?

I'm guessing "no".

If the station is off the air due to no power at the transmitter site, the answer is obviously no.
