Why is WJAR still seen in Worcester County?

I noticed WJAR is still seen on Charter cable throughout Worcester County, and I'm really surprised its still on there. It seemed to me like all the Providence/New Bedford stations have been completely removed from all cable systems in Eastern Mass. north of Rhode Island. I don't even think Charter carries the HD feed. This is just another proof that Charter is very old-fashioned and hasn't changed much in years. Does anyone in Worcester County actually watch WJAR? I bet most people there don't even realize it exists.

The funny thing is WJAR has significantly viewed status across Worcester County, so cable providers are allowed to carry the channel in its entirety in that area. WPRI is still SV across Worcester County too.

Comcast down in frank,Milford etc still carry wjar no hd though. funny thing is that the onscreen guide has no listings just local access programming i never understood this!

That's interesting about WPRI. I don't even think any systems in Worcester county, or anywhere in east/central Mass carry it anymore, except in Bristol county.

That's how it is with WSBE in Natick! Interesting it's like that elsewhere. I think it's because it's available in some towns but not others on the same system. Do you have guide listings for WSBE, as well as HD?

yes i have wsbe in hd and there learning channel, but i have nhptv but theres just a blank screen when i turn that on but theres a program listing and all that so i dont get it.

we are 30 mi to Prov here in Northbridge MA (12 mi S of Worc) and probably 40 mi to Boston so it's nice to get WJAR.
And yes we watch some of the evening news on occasion. Never understood why we never got Ch 12 since one USED to pick it up with rabbit ears.
Prior to digital we had a small TV in the breezeway for the rest of the Prov stations not on cable as sometimes the FOX NFL games were different.
Great times-pay more, get less...

Can get WJAR 10.1 and 10.2 OTA. Their news option at 10PM on 10.2 is an alternative when I can't take "Breaking News" on 56 at 10pm or the constantly laughing anchor on 38 at 9pm. Fox25 news at 10pm is still my choice at that time period.

Also WJAR RTV 10.2 carries slightly different RTV programing than 62.

WPRI and WNAC provide a relief from Boston when needed.
