Why is ZaraRadio Playlist Skipping?

Hi I run an internet radio station for a college and we use ZaraRadio for our automation software. I really like it but for some reason every once in a while it will do this thing to me where it will run through the playlist without playing any of the songs. So it will go from song to song down the playlist without actually playing anything. Which leads to dead air until I fix it and if there is a DJ's show in the schedule it won't play that either, just skipping it like all the other songs in the playlist. Of course this always starts when I'm either not in the studio or not paying attention so I have no idea what causes it. I don't think it's an issue with the computer, it's a newer one with 8gb of ram, and an ssd, and it is definitely not the internet. We just revamped the network in the building and we have gigabit internet with a very stable connection. Which leads me to believe its an issue with ZaraRadio itself. As of now the only fix is closing the program and opening it back up. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what could be causing this or how to fix it. Thanks in advanced.

That can happen when your sound card is not operating properly and when you disconnect the speakers from the computer.
When Zara can't find the proper audio driver, it will quickly skip selection after selection through the entire playlist.

Awesome! Thank you, we use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 to send the automation to our control board. I unplugged it from the computer and was able to replicate the problem. Now I just have to figure out why it will randomly do that. There isn't a pcie sound card in the computer, it just has an onboard sound but like I said we use a Scarlett 2i2. My guess is for a split second the computer stops communicating with the Scarlett which is probably causing the issue. Would you happen to know what could be causing this?

Something in the computer is taking priority over the USB device. It could be nearly anything. Windows updates, printer, etc.
You might want to install a good quality PCI audio card to avoid the USB issue.

I'd look for a stuck key on the keyboard. What version are you running? How many events do you have in the playlist?
If it skips an event, that means it couldn't find the file.

The trouble with that advice is that it's become difficult to find a modern PC or motherboard with a legacy PCI slot, and most PCI audio cards have reached the age where the manufacturer is no longer issuing updates. Many of them became obsolete with Windows 10. OP said it's a newer computer so that may be his situation. Nearly all current audio interfaces use USB now.

Hmm. The next time I go to the public electronics recycling bin, I may strip out the sound cards of the PC's before they go to the scrap yard.
