Why isn't 104.9 rating in Philly?

104.9 rated quite well in Philly as BOTH Standards AND Spanish CHR.

As Alternative Rock it's not even making a blip.

Nothing has changed signal-wise.

Burlington County, Camden County & Gloucester County in South Jersey are still part of the Philly Metro definition.

Why did it do so well with Standards and Spanish while it is not even showing up as Rock?

I heard Kelly Clarkson and DHT on Sojo this morning while flipping stations. Sojo is NOT a rock station at all. It is a mix station, very similar to Delaware's WSTW, which makes a small dip in the Philly numbers. Between Q, WPST, WSTW, BEN, B, and Sunny, Philly has no need to listen to "South Jersey's Own". Every song on 104.9 is played on the above mentioned Philly stations.

I agree that Sojo is a blend of Ben, B-101, and PST which suits me just fine. I doubt that they are looking to do extremely well in the Philly area as they are covering a niche area by being a South Jersey FM station that can be picked up from Bordentown to Atlantic City. The other "south jersey" stations are just local shore outfits that are not strong enough to reach areas like Cherry Hill and Burlington.

It's hard for me to understand why this is so hard for everyone else to understand. They aren't interested in Philly ratings and they aren't competing with Philly stations.

Comparing SoJo with Philly stations (like BEN or B-101) is nonsensical because SoJo doesn't care about them any more than they care about SoJo. It's apples & oranges.

That said, it's also easy to understand why they made the Philly book as nostalgia and Spanish but not as SoJo. No other FM's could be heard playing those formats. Now, as you've stated, the market already has hometown stations playing the same music as SoJo. (Which is yet another indication that SoJo doesn't care about the Philly book.)

Sunny 104.5 and WDAS 105.3 now both spew IBOC trash on 104.9, so it is now harder to hear 104.9.<P ID="signature">______________
