Why isn't anybody talking about the Austin ratings?

I hear ya'll talking mostly about S.A. but what about Austin? Well look, I know that KASE and KVET are always on top, but KHHL reached to 3rd place. I don't know how KKMJ went down to 6th place. KAMX,KPEZ,KROX, and KXBT are all tied. One station that dropped into the 1's is surprisingly, KFMK. I don't know how that station ratings drop to that low in the ratings. Well there you have it. The Austin ratings.

The KFMK drop is really unfortunate. They do sound good.

What's also interesting is the introduction of BMP into the top 3 (12+). Is Austin's Latino population getting larger?

CBS looks so pitiful in Austin. Why don't they take their weak programmers and throw them out if they really want to compete.

That's why the cluster was sold. Austin was one of the under performing markets. It's up to Entercom to make whatever changes they see fit.

Its hard to believe that KFMK is that low, IMO its one of the best stations we have in Austin. Well its a shame that it is that low. Unfortunatly even though Arbitron ratings are far from accurate, they are what the industry uses. How are they though in the other demographics? I heard that they are higher in the 25+ wich is what they are targeting anyways.
KXBT again is just not having a good time trying to get higher in the ratings. They are better than Hot its obvious when you hear their playlist and shows. Unfortunatly they may not last past October. What will Entercom do with the Beat???
KHHL is doing well very well and it does have to do with Austin's growing latino market. BMP overall seems to be doing well with the formats they have here.

IN AUSTIN, THE RADIO CHOICES ARE VERY SLIM NOWADAYS, IT'S SEEMS TO ME THEY'RE NO REAL GOOD PROGRAMMERS LEFT IN AUSTIN FOR EXTREMELY LONG TIME. AUSTIN NEEDS THREE GOOD STATIONS THAT WILL PLAY A GOOD MIX OF CLASSIC ROCK FROM THE 60'S TO 80'S AND SOME 90'S (WITHOUT ANY RECENT OR NEW SONGS ) AND CLASSIC COUNTRY (60'S TO 80'S) AND OLDIES (50'S TO 60'S) TO FILL THE EMPTY HOLES IN AUSTIN'S TERRIBLE RADIO.

you are talking about two formats that didn't work in the past, and a third format that is pretty much covered by KVET with some "recent or new" songs added in that fit KVET's traditional country sound.

Besides, why three stations? Isn't what you discribed similar to KPBA.

Austin radio is not terrible. It is not as good as in the past, but at least it is not San Antonio radio.

KHFI could be a better top 40 station, if they would lay off the hiphop and just let Hot 93 have the hiphop, They just way over play hiphop. They have added a few new dance tracks in. Sad to see Jammin take a hit, they are sounding really good. 101X is playing some good stuff now also, I still think KVET is one of the best programmed country stations around, they have old new and texas sounds. KGSR is a good decent AAA station.

Not having been to ATX in sometime.....but....

Does KFMK have Whoopi?............would help the station over you-know-who...

I think The Beat will be oldies/classic hits soon enough, I don't recall seeing many Urban formats on the Entercom website......

KFMK had a local morning show, but dropped it some time ago for Kidd Kraddick, a show that has flopped on 2 other Austin FMs. I'm sure mornings are contributing to their ratings issues. I agree with others here that the station's music mix has never sounded better.

They have

WVKL Norfolk, VA 95.7 R&B
WJMH Greensboro, NC 102 Jamz
KDGS Wichita, KS Power 93.9
and thats it.
I hope they won't flip the Beat at all. Just keep it like it is and get the PD of the station out of there.

Let's get one thing straight....KFMK did not drop their local morning show for Kidd Kraddock. Robin Flores, who was the PD also, left for a San Antonio gig (he was no prize as a PD but he worked fairly well on that morning show) and Jennifer Washington took that opertunity to retire from radio and spend more time with her kids. While they were trying to find a new local morning show, corporate Clear Channel swooped in and made them take Kraddock because he has some kind of hard-on for the Austin market (probably because he has failed at least twice before there). Unfortunately they have a multi-year deal (another 3 I think right now) so they can't get rid of him. Whoopi would be better....anything would be better.

Music would be better. Whoopi would mean I'd be listening entirely either to Bob or to cassettes (no CD player in the car yet) during morning drive (and sometimes Magic 105.3...yes, I still like that station).
