Why Isn't KFBK on 93.1?

Why isn't KFBK on 93.1? It only has like a 1.5 and KFBK is now second in the 12+ ratings behind 98Rock. Wouldn't flipping 93.1 to KFBK be better?

They will probably never give up there heritage AM frequency. Hardly anyone is doing FM simulcast anymore.

The bigger question is this: Why isn't there an FM talk station in Sac? One with LOCAL talk show hosts. I listen to Rush and Tom Sullivan on KFBK, but it would be much better to have LOCAL talent.

I don't think they should give up 1530, I just think they should simulcast on 93.1, FM Talk is becoming very popular (Its now in SF, Chico, Redding and Fresno (They have two) and I think putting KFBK on 93.1 would give them the upper hand against 98Rock, Any Thoughts?

Also, wasn't FM Talk one of the formats they stunted with? What was the schedule with that talk format? Was it just a KSTE or KFBK simulcast?

It was a full day of the best of Armstrong & Getty. After 24 hours of alternative rock and prior to 24 hours of AC. And all the stunt formats sounded better than what's on now.

Really? In the past two months, FM stations in Las Vegas and Atlanta have flipped to simulcasts of AM News/Talks, another happened in Birmingham back in February, and last year, a Philadelphia FM flipped to a simulcast of a Sports AM, as did one in Toledo. Seems like the trend is moving toward FM simulcasts, not away.

Though not exactly NewsTalk since they are All News, but KCBS-740 simulcasts on the FM dial at 106.9 to deliver big combined ratings to be #1 and they didn't have to give up their heritage AM frequency either. Younger listeners just don't listen to the AM dial.

I think that it's only a matter of time before FM simulcasts of popular AM stations happen. Here in LA people keep posting the same question about KFI being simulcast on one of their FM's like KHHT. It is happening, but only in a few cities so far. It does seem inevitable, but could still be years away for many stations.

And I'm hoping that Rush Limbaugh will retire before then. I don't want to see another generation of dittoheads.

Unfortunately, even after Rush retires, there will still be plenty of Rush Limbaugh Clones. I remember when KSFO-560 San Francisco moved their Talk Radio format more conservative in January of 1995, I thought it was a fad, and that All Conservative Talk Radio would disappear from KSFO after some time but I was wrong. KSFO is still going strong after more than 15 years of conservative talk radio.

Too late Michael! :p

The vast majority of Americans consider themselves conservative. Maybe that's why liberal radio always fails (i.e. Airhead America)?
