it 's at another site but it's worth the trip to see that this inbred moron who has run a once decent rock station into the ground doesn't know the difference between "live or memorex"......... someone please send him a dictionary!

I found that rather amusing, but not surprising. But he says in there that his jocks are perfect (including him!). Has he ever listened to his own show or even worse his own commercials?
 
I'm not a fan of voicetracking, but I would take the side of the PD here. The letter writer thinks the world should revolve around their personal tastes. It sounds like they want to shift KGB to something similar to FREE FM, we saw how well that station did.
 
Live and local listener interaction is important. That said, I wonder how many average listeners really notice the difference so long as they can hear their usual dose of Eric Clapton or the Beatles? I suspect, beyond us radio geeks, most people just don't care.
 
I was driving around this afternoon and heard Jim McInnes doing a traffic report on Jack-FM and then punched over to KGB to hear Dreck - oops Brick - and I could only think: this epitomizes what is wrong with radio.
 
I know its not KGB, but isnt KPRI voicetracked as well? I dont think I have ever heard any of the hosts take a listener call or do anything that I would call spontaneous and live.

Noting new, 102.1 under its current ownership has been using voice tracking almost from the beginning.
 
You know guys there are a whole lot of other stations in the market that are far worse than KGB-FM. There are many times I am punching buttons on my radio and other stations are in commercials and I can't get any music, but KGB at least will have a song on or even better DSC. I love DSC! KGB is not the station it once was, but show me one that is ! KGB-FM does not need to do hot FM talk it will ruin it remember when Phil Hendry was on it? That didnt work now the guy wants it to be Free FM so it can go from a 3+ share to a 1.1 like Free had??? Great idea you should be a programmer.

KyXy is terrible these days it waits a month or two and steals the music from 94.1, modern country on KSON is aweful. The only station that is even close to the station of greatness that it once was is KOGO. There is no station in the market except KyXy that is live 24/7 and most people would sware it was voice tracked. Some stations that do a good job are Magic 92.5, and 933. KPRI is unlistenable, the Walrus has a whopping 2 disc jockeys, Sofie, well after Im done with the laughter you already know how bad it is.

So guys lay off of KGB and Clear Channel why don't you guys go after the real crapper stations in the San Diego market, like the ones I mentioned.

KGBs music is not perfect, but if all the stations programmed what I think they need too Rape stations and top 40 stations wouldn't exist. Not rape I mean rap Freudian slip, just because it rapes my ears.

My understanding is that mainstream and Soft AC charts are usually a few weeks behind CHR and Adult Top 40. When I worked at KJoy, one knowledgeable personality put it this way: "Today's AC is yesterday's Top 40." He was right.

I wish we could all stop critiquing other radio stations that we don't work at, because only people who work there know why they play the music they do, and it occurs to me, there are a lot of different factors we just aren't privy to.
 
Let's put it this way. Anyone who listens to DSC is an IQ of less than 5 and anyone who listens to KGB had an IQ of less than 5.5
 
Oh, I disagree! I have an IQ somewhat greater than 5 and I always found DSC quite entertaining. I haven't heard them for over three years since I left the area, but I'd have a hard time being convinced they've gone south. I always thought they were good candidates for syndication myself.

Although, KGB would gladly take a 5.5 ... up from their current 3.3.

I see dumb people...they're everywhere in San Diego. They walk around like everyone else here. They don't even know that they're dumb.

Because San Diego has more than its fair share of alleged adult males who are stuck in state of arrested adolescence, like you know dude? Longevity in media often has little to do with being the best and the brightest and more to do with tapping into the lowest common denominator. DSC are middle-aged Beavis and Buttheads and for a small percentage of the population that works, and in radio you only need to attract a small percentage of potential listeners on a consistent basis to be deemed successful.
 
well then BOB,i can admit,they have a heart.they give back to the people in san diego.a good friend of mine,won a grand a day everyday giveaway.he wanted to visit his dying mom and the dsc gave him the money to go see her.very great show!
