Why no good oldies programming on Central Jersey stations?

Nothing but religious programming and non english speaking formats, in good areas like Trenton. Yet, South Jersey has WVLT, WIBG, WMID...more towards the north, WOBM. Those are good stations, and those formats could maybe work in other parts of NJ.

For many years Trenton had 1260 WBUD. It was a standards / pop music station that eventually morphed into a "Great Gold" fomat back in the early 90's. For a while back then it had stellar ratings. I had heard that the owners actually sabotaged it by the late 90's because it was becoming too popular and actually outshining WPST which was their biggest station at the time.

94.5 WNJO was hamstrung because it was hurting PST...but that was some time ago.

Monmouth County has Great Gold 1410 WHTG & 1310 WOBM-AM....North NJ has WMTR-AM.

The lack of available FM's in Central Jersey mean that oldies was the 1st to go...107.7 The Bronc does oldies weekends, and they hit parts of Trenton from Lawrenceville.

WBUD and WPST were owned by different companies.

Nassau owned WPST and WHWH.

Press, then Millennium owned WKXW and WBUD.

Nobody sabotaged anything.

I don't really get out to Western NJ, but we have down here a great oldies station called WIBG "wibbage". I don't know if there's a Wibbage-like station anywhere else in the state, but these guys do it right.
