Why No Urban Radio Station In Montreal

H

Guest
i wanted to ask why is there no hip-hop radio station in montral from visiting in the pass i see there is a large black population in north montreal.

When I was out that way last, I noticed many of the "black" people were speaking French.
For all I know, they could be bilingual, but I think part of the reason may be because it's difficult to determine what may be more profitable. (if at all)

A French or English Hip Hop station?

If you go across the Atlantic Ocean and headed to Paris, you'll find two Urban radio station in that city, make it three. SKYROCK 100.3, 97.4 ADO-FM, and Afrique N°1 107.5. Montreal can support an Urban Anglo/Francophone station, but it depends on the CTRC.

i listen to ado and skyrock online before good stations. i agree that montreal should get a radio station like that. i hope in the future a french urban will come to montreal.

The black population in Montreal is largely immigrant from Haiti, Africa, and Caribbean countries. The Haitian/Caribbean audience is largely served by CHWI 1610 (so0n to be 1410).

yea i understand the haitian community is large there but im talking about a hip-hop station because i see alot of upcoming rappers in french/english.

Actually, the 3 Hip Hop stations in Paris are Skyrock (Rhythmic CHR), Ado FM 97.8, and Generations FM 88.2

...which brings us back to the first question:

French or English? Which one language would be more profitable?
