Why Not Merge CNBC and MSNBC?

So CNBC does well in the daytime with business/stock market shows..but they do terrible at night no matter what they show (talk shows, reruns, etc). MSNBC does terrible in the daytime but is making inroads at night. So why not merge the two networks together to make one good competing channel? Then NBCU could use the other open channels to launch something else. Thoughts?

Are they doing bad ratings wise or profit wise? CNBC runs infomercials. Perhaps they can make a lot of money doing that. Also once you have a slot on cable you don't want to give that up so easily. It would be better for NBC to simply hold the slot open with CNBC till they came up with something better
______________

I think CNBC may do better if it was a 24/7 business channel, like Bloomberg.
They wouldn't even have to pay - just simulcast CNBC Asia and CNBC Europe, like CNBC World does.
______________

Maybe they can get Suze Orman(who I like a lot) to do a 5 day a week talk show. And also Bloomberg also has news programs,so CNBC could have news programs as well. Also keep Deal Or No Deal on as well. One other thing, can we please get the screamer Kramer from Mad Money off of there?

Provided that they rate it "[TV-PG]" like NBC, not go their own way and rate it "[TV-14]" for no apparent reason.

Agreed -- everytine he's on, his show reeks "infomercial", even though it's not.

Hopefully, if there is ever a merger, they can kill the infomercials -- they're a bane to CNBC's existence.
