All you need to do is turn on the radio and you have FIRST HAND evidence the drain is being circled. You would never think of playing the same song every day over and over and over, would you? I'm not talking about what's been called "stunting". I am talking about a format where all you do is play the same song all day and all night long. Just think, you can even start a magazine about your "unique" format, have convensions and give out awards! What an idea!
And that's EXACTLY what you have with the current crop of talk radio. I don't care who you listen to, listen for five minutes and you've heard the whole day. A whole day (and night too) of Rush Limbaugh clones and wannabes. They think this is such a great format. Need anybody wonder why the drain is being circled? Of course, the GM's can see and opportunity to run it on the cheap by satelite...you don't need anybody! Don't use your head GM, don't take any initiative. Just play the same song all day long and call yourself a professional broadcast executive.
