Well its interesting though for a nostalgia standpoint but at the same time the people demanding creative and original programming are going to Hulu, Netflix and other on demand services for that.

Will and Grace, Dynasty, American Idol and Dallas are some of the reboots mentioned here. Also these rebooted shows have to attract current money demos.

I remember watching the 2017 edition of Ducktales and its interesting that the current staff of that show attempted make that show fresh by making the storylines fit with this decade and not stuck in 1989.

I am kinda of surprised this is even a question.

The reason, again why so many reboots is to attract millennials or at least try too. Works like this...take One Day at a Time for example. Show was popular during its original run so to get that couple in their 20s it has to be redone since the world is different than it was back in 1980 and besides Bonnie Franklin and Pat Harrington are both dead which is a sin for that age group. I know some millennials who actually got rid of their Tom Petty music because of his death so for those people nobody will watch/lsten to someone who is dead. Being a demo that advertisers want the millennials is one big reason for the TV reboots and films have a gotten a bit family friendly in recent years plus one cant find Elvis and The Beatles on FM in most parts of the country and no live overnight jock period. Mllennials think it's stupid.

Oh before someone says "I am 25 and I watch I Love Lucy"..well good for you now how many of YOUR friends watch Lucy ??

Millennials won't listen to somebody who is dead? Where did you get that? Stars die all the time, especially rock musicians. Sooo...Are you telling me that millennials won't watch the older Fast & Furious films anymore because Paul Walker is dead? That's ridiculous. And I doubt there were many millennials that ever bought Tom Petty records. He was popular with baby boomers, and Gen Xers. Though I do get that these TV show ideas have to be updated for the current world. In 1966, they made Barbara Eden cover her belly button to play Jeannie. If they ever reboot Jeannie, she'll probably be as close to naked as they can get away with.

The reason reboots are popular is that their concepts were popular at the time, there is at least a decent chance that it will be popular again, and it's a bit easier because they don't have to start with a new concept.
