WHY SIMULCAST WITH THE BONE?

I get simulcasting on the Ticket's AM and FM frequency, but what benefit is there from also putting it on the Bone??!

I like what Kevin McCarthy said on his "Dallas Digest" about moving The Ticket to the better frequency on AM 570 and doing a switch with KLIF (moving it to 1310)...I'd just add that I'd also make the Bone frequency "KLIF FM" and simulcast the KLIF talk format. The Bone does nothing.

Yeah, KLIF being the ratings juggernaut that it is...

Anyone else thinking the Ticket may end up on 93.3 when this is all said & done???? That frequency's been about 187 formats in the last 5-10 years. You think Cumulus will start from scratch...AGAIN...or simply move a proven commodity over to the FM side??

Jones wants an FM affiliate, and Bone has a much better signal than the Ticket's FM spot.

I see this becoming yet another showboating vehicle for "cool" Jeff K, much like he makes an ass of himself at every Stars game. I would bet that KTCK's and KDBN's heavy 25-34 male demo was what sold Jerry. Interest in pro football is waning with the younger-ish males. KLUV's 35-49 skewing may have put the Cowboys into their fans' hands, but did nothing to bring in younger listeners. It's a good investment for the long term, far as the Cowboys go. I think Cumulus will think the Bone is a perfect match for the games and won't change a thing. In reality, it's time to FLUSH management and "talent," and bring in some new blood (ESPECIALLY programming) and bring back some of that short-lived spirit the station had in its first two months on the air. For those who don't remember, The Bone wasn't this cheesy and pop-laced when it signed on. The programming "CONCEPT" is not a bad idea, it's the execution and the morons in charge that have wrecked it and twisted it into something "classic rock" was NEVER meant to be. And they wonder why people laugh at them and don't take them seriously as a real contender or a real station.

ABSOLUTELY!

> I get simulcasting on the Ticket's AM and FM frequency, but

I don't think it was ever outright policy, but the NFL used to strongly discourage teams from broadcasting solely on a signal like KTCK, which really doesn't do much at night, as a flagship. I had trouble, especially in the car, picking it up at night when I lived in Ft. Worth in 1996. The Ticket's FM simulcast isn't much of a bonus either. That's probably where The Bone fits in. About the time the Cowboys left KRLD for KVIL, the NFL began to push its teams to get off of AM altogether when possible.

Kofarsky will prolly end up doing V/O work in big markets if he gets jettisoned from the bone. I like Jeff, pretty decent guy, but his whole stars game schtick has worn on me.

The Bone unfortunately IS NOT about Good Rock Music AT ALL.

It's just the typical Promotions!!! Promotions !!! Prometions!!!

Oh, and did I emntion that The Bone .... Is all about Promotions ? ?

Whe I think of The Bone.... I think of Wing-Stop....
Because they are ... Boneless too ! !<P ID="signature">______________

Sounds about right to me

I just hope this presents an opportunity to make a change in the announcing team.
It's been reported that Jones will select the announcing team and this would be a great chance to take the thing to another level. Brad and Babe are nice people but the game broadcasts have become basically Brad second guessing everything the coaches do or call, as if he could do a better job, and then instead of doing PLAY BY PLAY...calls a play and then analyzes it...leaving NO time for the color commentator to do THEIR job. Babe has good information but has to be the most frustrated color analyst in sports, Brad hardly lets him have time enough to say much other than "that's right Brad" before the next play begins. It's time for new blood!
Jones knows the Ticket has the demo he needs, young money spending mostly male adults. It would serve him well to buy into the Ticket philosophy and hire game announcers who are younger, hipper, and perhaps a bit irreverent. Much like Fox did when they made the change to Joe Buck and Aikman on the "A" team.

yes, i think that they will take the 93.3 fm freq and dump the 104.1 freq....

stronger signal and the Bone ratings aren't much to write home about...
