Why Some Stations Are Unable To Stream

Regrettably, Some stations has joined thousands of other radio stations who have been forced to discontinue streaming on the internet. The recording industry has recently been authorized to charge each station that streams recorded music unrealistic rates for each record played. For a very popular station, this cost could exceed $3000.00 per day. These charges are in addition to the extra BMI, SESAC, and ASCAP rates we must pay for the privilege of streaming.

They feel that no music station will be able to pay these outlandish charges. If and when this is challenged in court and the recording industry begins to charge a reasonable rate.

is there such a thing as "illigal streams" which means someone in Las Vegas has the ability to stream a station like KOMP over the net? is this exsits, I would be interested in a link....it seems LV is one of the only places that can't stream...look at this way....the city is one of the top destinations for tourism and one of the fastest growing...why can't they stream......NYC, Dallas, Detroit stream....
