Why the new kid on the block is so great

I worked at Lakehurst in the early to mid 90's, I could not wait to get to work way out there from Philly, the reason, I could pick up Z-100, Da Buzz, K-Rock, PLJ and G-106.3. These stations played music that no Philly station would touch until YSP ala 1996. The Grunge and Alternative 90's seemed the best for music, the Flys, Screaming Trees, Suffocating-Chevelle, Sponge, Spacehog and so much more plus the big bands Nirvanna, AIC, etc., you get the idea. WRFF is filling this void, all these bands and titles are being played plus some odd stuff from the Ramones and Smithereens. MMR and Y-100 never touched this music, YSP did to some extent with Toxic, DeBella and Grease when YSP shoved music in his syndicated show due to the popularity it was having on the station. My point is, WRFF is playing music I embraced in the 90's and exposing the younger people to this great stuff, I will turn 60 this year and still love it. Lets just hope no crazy suits try and mess with it, hey I even like that rap tune by Matt whatever....is that the right guy.

I never would have thought of you as a New Kids on the Block fan...Which one is your favorite? They're all so dreamy.

Oh, New KID.....never mind.

The New Kid is pretty cool

Like you, Run, I'm 'old' (47), yet I've never stopped enjoying music. To me, some of the best music ever recorded was done between 1963-72, but I always keep an open ear to the new stuff. Rap, I hate...all of it...it's noise to me, but the alt rockers of the 90's always sounded good. I like WRFF a lot. Clear Channel, for all its sins, occasionally programs a good radio station, and this is one of them. BTW, I live down the road from Lakehurst, in Bayville, equidistant from Roxborough and Empire...there is barely an open spot on the FM dial, although most of them are filled with dreck!
