Why the same program all day long?

Today I got rid of Cox Cable in my home. Why? A 20% increase in the monthly bill...and the fact of how boring the channels have become. Each channel has their signature program that they think all of their viewers want to binge watch all day long. MTV, it's Ridiculousness, History its Ancient Aliens, TruTV, it's Impractical Jokers, etc

The lack of choices in programming these channels provide have made cable tv viewing unbearable. Even if I like the show I don't want to watch 8 hours in a row of it.

Is it just me? Or do others feel this way.

Some "marathons" I don't necessarily mind. History used to run Pawn Stars marathons back in the day which I was OK with. CNBC runs marathons of Shark Tank which I like and HGTV also runs some marathons that are OK. Others are crap. Because of the particular 1/2 dozen channels we watch most often, including regional sports networks and the fact that we prefer to watch some of our favorite programs on demand, for us, the cable package we currently subscribe to is currently still the best/most economical way to go. If that changes, especially as more streaming services and content become available, I'd be happy to dump Comcast.
