Bobby was one of my favorites at 98.1 I always heard the issue was money. I would agree that sounds like a way to avoid saying he was actually fired instead of "let go." But the fact he then went to WCBS-FM is an indication that it was not an actual firing.
I don't recall Bobby going to CBS-FM. He worked at NJ 101.5 for a while. Did I miss something? Or are you confusing Bobby JAY with Bobby SHARPE?

According to his website, he worked at CAU/OGL from 3/87 to 1/96. He duplicated Christy Springfield's move from WAYV, Atlantic City on to Hot Hits earlier in the decade. He also worked before and after in Orlando, and had quite a musical career.
