Why WCAP Cancelled Paying Attention

Listening to Tom Duggan, editor/publ. of Merrimack Valley publication the Valley Patriot on Jeff
Katz' WXKS show right now; surfing, I found this article from last fall about why WCAP cancelled
Tom's show "Paying Attention". I'd caught the show once (they were talking about racy content
at Kiss 108's Jingle Ball)

>>WHAV 1640 AM
A pirate? low power-AM?

Duggan: "The short answer is that one of the station owners (sic) Clark Smidt, was a petty tyrant who tried to micromanage my show and tell me what I was allowed to say and do even when I wasn’t at WCAP...So yeah, there was no way WCAP was ever going to get their hands on my advertisers at the Valley Patriot as long as Clark Smidt was there, period. Besides, I tried that once and it was a total disaster. "

The blog post also offers comments.

I guess WHAV's 1640 broadcast is low power (legal power?) in Haverhill itself, and at http://www.whav.net
Looks like they play music and apparently they offer a wide range of political opinion: not only
are they apparently carrying Valley Patriot (conservative, from what I've seen) publisher Duggan's
show, but they're about to run Democracy Now (progressive)...
