How funny is it that while all the other other media was "celebrating" the 2nd anniversary of Katrina with BS images that make us sick and hackneys pap about how "they were here for us," or WRNO, (who wasn't even here then, or even A YEAR LATER) spitting venom about post-K life, WWL radio comes up with this whole "Why We Stay" thing. What a neat spin. Look, they got their challanges, but that was a pretty cool move today.
The TiPsie did a nice job today too with the "Thank You" thing... reminded me of my time in Orlando when people were nice to me just after the storm.
Tip of the hat to both for finding a positive spin on a pretty crappy time in all our lives.
And Congrats to WWOZ for the Gambit "Best Station of the Year."
It is an awesome station.
BTW, am I the only one who finds Couhig's "bloviations" the most annoying thing ever in radio.

I'm in Houston now...it's amazing how far from the truth one sees on TV here. This morning, KHOU Ch. 11 (Belo station, sister of WWL-4) is showing a segment on NOLA's rebuilding...it's done by DAVE CASSIDY...A CBS REPORTER WHO IS IN WASHINGTON DC who states everything is a disaster and nobody lives there and no businesses are open. He further states there is an issue with even buying groceries...what a load of CRAP! I moved in January after K and it was inconvenient but far from hard to find anything I needed. I wrote KHOU an email, calling them out on his irresponsible reporting and have yet to receive a response. It's no wonder why tourism is struggling...
