Why Wikipedia is a joke

I have to admit that i've researched a subject by quickly looking it up on Wikipedia. I know there's a contingent that are very anti Wiki and wiki users out there, but didn't know why till now.
Having nothing to do the other day I was bopping around online and decided to look up a few RI radio legends (might have been the Hall Of Fame thread thatt gave me the idea). Most of the ones who even had one up were very brief and contain straight facts. Then you get to the John Depetro Wiki entry. Holy crap. A Bio only a universal sized ego or mother could write. Quite frankly it looked as if both had written it together. Utterly shameless. But, the part that was the most galling, was the complete ommision of the Arbitron ratings fiasco. Sorry dude, whether you like it or not, thats part of your radio legacy. Even if you were able to have your wife take the rap(my apologies if its on her Wiki bio). Wish i knew how to add info to that, it can easily be documented.

That former PD at WSAR pulled the same crap. Wrote a bio that only a mother could love. People shouldn't be allowed to write their own bio's on Wikipedia. They end up sounding like ego driven a-holes.
