Why would CC ignore a needed format

Ok!!! we all know JJZ is going URBAN, yes, Movin is another form of URBAN. The Beat will be Jazz, two seconds later. What about Active, CC should put Movin on the Q and Active on 106.1. Everyone is drooling about yet another URBAN format polluting the Philly airwaves. As usual, the Rocker has nothing, I guess if the full dial was some sort of an URBAN format, it would still not be enough. What will it take, probably, if YSP talks full time, that will do the trick. I did hear management was thinking about it for the fall.

that would be a good radio-one combo seller

100.3 WJJZ hey you could pick the call letters and format right up from where it left off
103.9 WPPZ gospel
107.9 WRNB Urban ac

but if i was radio one i would buy the new 97.5 move in and put wrnb there and sell off 107.9 its such a bad spot for a station

NO!!! We do not want Radio One to buy 97.5 and put another one of 'their' formats on. We want Radio One to SELL all their stations and leave town..........they are the ones who moved in and took away the rock/alternative stations and put formats on which were already well established. (and one wonders why we are saturated with Urban) The Beat and RNB can not compete against Power and WDAS. Ok..I will give them credit for Praise...but the Beat should have been replaced not the 'Y' (yes I know some are sick of hearing this.....but hey it is the truth!! just look at the latest ratings.)

Why would they ignore a "needed format?"

Simple.

BECAUSE THEY DON'T SEE IT AS PROFITABLE

If they did, they would have flipped a struggling format and executed it.

I'm a fan of all rock music, and agree Philadelphia is lacking, but the corporations aren't going to listen to one person on a message board chewing them out.

And I agree with Hack... KlassikRunswithIntern is getting annoying.

Just because Philly has a ton of urban stations, doesn't mean there any good apparently.

Oh, and it's your fault.

I hope we all realize that RunWithScissors is Klassikkountry/RockIntern... this board [deleted by moderator]

-WRONG- SHERLOCK, just because I told you he had written to me a few times and explained why he was banned, agreed with him on many topics, does not mean I am him, BTW... FYI... I am really Fred Flintstone...

RunwithScissors - Unless you have inside information on how well any of the Urban stations bill in Philadelphia (and you've indicated you don't), you need to drop this crusade.

All you have to do is go back and read old posts of the person who spells the word that describes people who are listening as an "audiance" to know who "RunWithScissors" is. I doubt there's more than one person on this board who would spell that word incorrectly so consistently.
BTW, just because there's a void for any format in ANY given market doesn't mean that the format would or would not sell. It's all a matter of who the agency dollars are trying to hit. If the trend is the black/hispanic population, you can have either 0 or 5 urban stations and yet the ad dollars won't suffer. In fact, it may cause agencies to open their budgets further since they won't know who to buy to hit the target consistently. Conversely, if there's only one station remotely close to active rock, the agency may explore other means to hit that demo or buy tons of spots on their lone choice IF THEY FEEL IT HITS THE TARGET.
