Why is 3's Comapany now on both TVLAND and Nick-at-Nite at 11PM?

...Because Viacom continues to screw up both of those channels. They're both just a shadow of what they used to be.

Well, that changes next week on the TVLAND side, when What's Happening! debuts after this weekend's (11/5-7) marathon.

Oooooooo, just what we've all been waiting for! NOT!

Meanwhile, somebody better send out a search party for Oscar Madison, Col. Hogan and Captain Steubing. All are missing and presumed cancelled.

I'm sure this has been addressed before, why won't they have at least one night of REAL classic shows: The Real McCoys, My Little Margie, Topper, etc. I guess it's all about the ratings, huh?

What ratings? The fact that Nick at Nite doesn't care about fans who want to see classic shows on their channel, that's why. It has been years since I have seen Dennis The Menace,Patty Duke,My Three Sons,The Lucy Show, and the last time I saw them was Nick at Nite. But Nick at Nite, all they care about is showing shows from the 90's like Fresh Prince,Roseanne,Murphy Brown and their latest acquistion coming in early 2006,Mad About You.

Yes,it would be nice to see the shows you mention to be back on,but the only possible way now would be on DVD,because it would take a miracle and beyond that for Nick at Nite or TV Land for that matter to show The Real McCoys,My Little Margie, and Topper.

It's all about the demographic Nick At Nite caters to. The shows from the 50's and 60's do NOT cater to that demographic. There is a significant viewing audience in the demo that "NAN" goes after (just ask Comedy Central). I would also imagine it's more difficult for Viacom to sell the older programming than it would be to sell the programming they have on now.

I would like to see "NAN" to start steering away from the shows that are already in syndication and can be seen in pretty much any market in the U.S. (Roseanne, Fresh Prince, Cosby, Full House). They should really concentrate on getting shows that are no longer in syndication like they used to be years ago (Blossom, anyone?, just as an example).

Apparently things have changed quite vividly in 10 to 15 years for Nick at Nite and their demographics. I'm 34 and I enjoyed watching shows like Dennis The Menace,Patty Duke,Get Smart,My Three Sons, among many many others. I know which crowd they cater to and that is to the under 30 crowd who like Full House,Fresh Prince,Roseanne, and the animated version of The Cosby Show,Fatherhood.

I agree with you there. Bring on shows like Blossom,Small Wonder,Out Of This World,Silver Spoons,Diff'rent Strokes,The Facts Of Life,ALF,One Day At A Time, and too many to mention and you can count on me watching Nick at Nite again. Unfortunately with Mad About You coming(and then Home Improvement in 2007 and The Nanny in 2009),you can basically forget about any show from the 80's and earlier being shown ever again on Nick at Nite.

Re: It's All About the Demo

I do wonder about demographics though. Because I've spoken to a few execs and for instance, I spoke to one and they claim shows like "My Three Sons," can't be sold. In otherwords they WANT to sell them but the market doesn't exist.

This seems to run contrary to a station like WWME-CA "ME-TV in Chicago. A Low Power TV station, which does OK in the ratings.

Sometimes I wonder if it comes down to, the older shows ARE sellable, but they don't make THE MOST money. Similar to infomercials. A station can make (simplified) $500 off a comedy show or $505 off an informercial, they will go with the infomercial, cause it's about making THE MOST money.

Of course the stock answer I always get is... "If you like the show, buy the DVDs."

And if there aren't DVDs yet, the logic goes back circular, and the reply is "That is because there is NOT enough demand."

How about "Gimme A Break" & "Mr Belvedere" two of my favorites from when I was a kid that haven't seen the light of day in years.

Oscar, as of next week, will be on WNYW at 4:00 AM, as they picked up The Odd Couple, which was airing on WPIX.

There are a lot of early-mid 90s shows that aren't even in syndication anymore that would fit: Blossom, Wings, Caroline In The City, Perfect Strangers... I could keep going forever without even touching the lesser networks.

Perfect Strangers!! :)

Now THAT'S one show I'd LOVE to see on TV again, cuz I've always felt that that show was VERY FUNNY!! :)

I DO miss a LOT of the sitcoms that existed in the 1960's & 1970's.

I grew up in the 1970's & 1980's, and LOVED seeing many of those older shows when they ran on the local TV stations, and on the superstations like WGN and WOR!! :)

Personally, I wish there would be independent TV stations in the bigger cities again, and that some of them would be willing to put their signals on satellite so that they could be carried by cable again!! :)

Mad About You on Nick At Night? Jeezus I'm getting old...anybody remember when NAN was Mr. Ed and Dennis The Menace, and everything else black-and-white?

ALF...now THERE'S a good show! Is anybody playing it these days?

I have deleted both Nick-at-Nite and TVLand from my favorite channel list.
I taped a lot of those shows from their early years. If I want classic TV I just simply put in the tape or DVD and presto! big time TV satisfaction!

It was just on both channels for a few days. I read on Sitcoms Online that Three's Company is taking a hiatus from TV Land due to too many airings, so it has temporarily returned to Nick At Nite. But it will be back on TV Land soon.
