Why does KFYI keep Hayworth? Have they lost all will to program their station?
Ratings, period. Ratings = money.
I know everyone on this board hates J.D. and has hoped and prayed for his failure since the outset, but he's still here.
Why wont KTAR dump Beck and Mac for Hill and Crummey?
Beck is a nationally syndicated, proven talk show host with a track record of success. Joe Crummey is a guy that sings to himself and plays a very mediocre guitar; he also does survey radio and is a 50 year old guy that tries way too hard to be hip when he is clearly not. His ratings at KFYI, while certainly better than the afternoon snewz-block, were quite middle of the road. Austin Hill is a fairly smart, sophisticated host, but he also falls into that 1985 style of talk radio that Mac does. If I had to chose Mac or Austin Hill, I'd chose Austin in a second though.
Will Tim and Willy actually tell us monday what is going on with their career?
I think that ship has sailed long ago. I don't know how much buzz they could really generate now. They have a fan base, but something tells me that their glory days in this market are likely behind them... though that isn't a FOR SURE, this market is rather weird that way.
Has Energy been sold or did the deal fall through?
I haven't heard anything in a few months about this deal--admittedly I haven't really actively sought information on it, but last I heard there were still a lot of i's to dot and t's to cross.
Why does KXAM keep the horrible sports show in am drive? UGH
They MUST be paying for airtime. That show, along with Imus (and now Seacrest) represents about the worst radio I've ever heard.
What happened to Drake in mornings on the Peak?
Canned.
How big will Johnjay and Rich get? Will more stations sign on soon?
Aside from the aforementioned Seacrest, Positive Side of Sports and Imus, this is another show that could join the radio graveyard and I'd have no problem.
When the show first came on the air I said "there's no way it can last, this is bad even for a morning show..." But then we should always refer to rule number one about the Phoenix radio market, it's completely Fu--ed up. Why not just have Chris Parket do the Mix, Kiss and KOY morning shows... ClearChannel would love it and Chris is a good guy

.
Where is Chuck Powell? Any chance he will pop on another station?
Will Xtra pick up Bruno at night?
Was it a smart move for Kid and Ruben to reunite?
Will Mix always play music from the 80's?
1) I hope Chuck comes back on in this market, he's a super talent who really got lost in the shuffle of the mindlessness of management at the Edge. I think that, when he was with Vince, the show was amazing both on the sports and music side. He is more than capable of doing a good show solo, but with the right chemistry, he is capable of great radio.
2) Tony Bruno is kind of a retread at this point, Xtra has JT The Brick and I don't foresee that ever changing as it's cheap and--at the risk of sounding repetitive--it is Clear Channel.
3) Kid and Ruben are a middle-of-the-pack, average, hip hop morning show. I won't be one of these types that says that someone who is white, male and 40+ years old can't host a CHR or (more notably) a hip-hop morning show, it's just that the team of Kid and Ruben strikes me as typical, phony radio guys... puking it up, false energy and not REALLY into the format or "lifestyle". Knowing the format is important, but actually being into it and understanding it is another. Then again, JAMZ is run by CBS and they couldn't put together a workable talk station, then they put together a hip-hop station that sounds very 1991... so what do you expect.
4) I hope Mix always plays music from the 80s, the reality is that they have cut their 80s tracks WAY back over the last few years. Mostly they only play the power golds and put them up against time syncs so that they don't even always play. This is a rather sad trend, but one that I suppose is to be expected as the inevitability of time continues it's unabated march forward.
