has WHYL cut daytime power? signal seems weak in some areas. Are they on the air all night at
low power or now signing off ?
 
Signal does seem weak at times-program drops out for hours at a time although carrier seems to stay on. My guess is that the station is being run from computer most likely at the xmtr or a closet somewhere.
Such a sad ending although Bruce is a vigilant guy--good luck my friend
 
WHYL's signal was strong. 5.000 watts. It could be heard into Virginia and many miles in Western PA. Seems they have reduced power. They were such a good station. Too bad things have turned so badly for them.
 
Not that they need any more difficulties, but I'm wondering if WHYL is powering down at sunset. I'm sitting here in Dover, York County, a good 20-25 air miles from Carlisle, and pulling in a pretty good signal. Too good for 22 watts. Conditions might just be favorable for local DX, but it sounds more like daytime power.
 
Ive heard WHYL may not be using 5000 watts daytime but far less. And---
why bother staying on at night at all.? The station is on auto--pilot & life-support. Its sad.
And---who would buy it ?

WHYL has been reaching Long Island at nite for the past few weeks. Obviously not powering down at all. I remember listening last summer in the Olive Garden parking lot on RT 11 at nite and the signal was very weak. That's about all 22 watts will get you, just a few miles.
 
Why does WHYL appear to be operating at more than 22 watts at night ?
someone told me they hear WHYL at night near Ephrata, Pa.
 
Whatever happens, I'm hoping WHYL will not be another run-of-the-mill news, talk,sports, ethnic or religious programmed station that dominates so much of the AM band these days! If at all possible, keep the current or similar format, but survive either on donations or run a hybrid revenue model in which the station survives on both donations and advertisement.
