WIBC dead air over 30 minutes during Rush

This is not an attempt to be negative or a slam or put-down of any hard working technical people, but this is at least the second time it's happened this year. The carrier was fine, just 0% modulation on 7-6-11 from about 12:12pm to 12:44pm, during the most listened to hour of Rush Limbaugh. For the community's sake it's a good thing it didn't happen during a tornado outbreak because they do provide a great service in such cases.

Either no one at the station listens to their own product, or, the new digital technology won't allow "patching" around a bad piece of gear. Either way, this is not what's expected in a market of Indy's size.

Silent Sense Technology. Around since 1960, at least. Install a Sonalert on it.

Can we just admit that Smulyan is tired of the Republican Agenda and he personally nuked it to silence the voice of the blessed one?

If it was on the internet it no doubt was a failure in the STL or T1. Many times the station monitors the program feed on the board rather than the air signal , sometimes due to a slight delay. Expect that if they were listening then they were in Program instead of AIR.

SONALERT, 12 v supply, silent sense.

OR BETTER YET

SONALERT, 12 v supply, silent sense, remote bark/training collar, board op. (Implied silent sense relay wired to bark/training collar remote) On sale now $99 at Home Depot. Big dog collar somewhat higher.

The dead air on the FM compensates for all the "double feeds" that were on the AM.
I don't know if they fixed the double feeds on 1070; I don't listen to it any more.

I was listening online and, thankfully, I was able to continue listening.

I thought affiliates were not permitted to stream El Rushbo. (On air only.)

This is correct. Most networks are telling affiliates not to stream. HMM

You can pay Rush (and other syndicated hosts) a fee to stream their shows. Oddly enough Coast to coast is one of the most expensive.

Shawk,
Forgive my ignorance, but why would you say that "oldly enough, Coast to Coast is one of the most expensive." Why would their pricing seem odd?

Because it's an overnight show. When you look at PPM and and streaming listening, the AQH isn't worth free much less pay for play. My opinion has nothing to do with the content - it's simply that there are not enough local listeners that time of night to invest in the programming, other than to keep the needles bouncing.
