WIBC p.d. leaving

Alan brought a "WLW type" intensity when he first arrived at WIBC...that excitement and urgency has faded here of late. Hopefully his successor will fire the intensity back up a couple of notches. Best wishes Alan!

The afternoon show with Ed Wenck is almost unlistenable.
All interviews per recorded and in sound bites.
I know PPM might have something to do
with it, but if that is all you can do, maybe syndication is not so bad.

I agree with BobOnTheJob and Hoosierky.

The excitement has waned. They're back to their old sound in terms of imaging. Sappy delivery from their voice guy. And the Siri promos are really annoying.

Isn't the afternoon show just filler between commercials and service elements. If they take a syndicated show, they don't have the same number of avails per hour as they do now. It's "throw-away" content. Sorry, Ed, it is unlistenable.

Some of the interviews in the afternoon are good, but overall it's not easy to listen to the station in the afternoon due to the constant traffic, weather and spot breaks. Nothing Ed can do to change that.

I like Ed Wenck but the afternoon show is agreeably "unlistenable". The word bland is too kind.

I hope Alan can bring some intensity to News 92 FM. The station has an outstanding line-up of Houston news legends (J.P. Pritchard and Lana Hughes/Bonnie Petrie and many more). The station is poised well against heritage talker, Clear Channel's KTRH and like many Cheap Channel amlunists, we would love to see Radio 1 succeed here. ;)

Even though Tribune company has been in bankruptcy, WGN radio has mainteain a great, positive sound to it. Even guest hosts sound very comfortable. Suggest someone at Emmis give it a listen.

Wanted to give Ed Wenck some love! When you examine his "body of work" over the years, it's apparent to me that he's a very gifted broadcaster who is highly versatile.

As far as potential replacements for Mr. Furst at WIBC, what about the current PD of 1070 The Fan? David Wood is a great coach and images radio stations better than anyone. If he's not interested, Emmis should look at Gabe Hobbs.

I hope the new PD tells Stan that it's ok to finish up his newscast as Rush's music starts. Rush doesn't start talking for at least 30 seconds. As soon as the music starts, Stan very quickly ends whatever he is doing without doing a proper outro. It's as if he's worried about stepping on Rush.

It's the little things - the details.

More importantly, why would you not time out the newscast before hand?
