WIBC to 93.1!

Looks like a done deal, Emmis to simulcast WIBC on 93.1 within 2 weeks.

Emmis to simulcast WIBC on 93.1 within 2 weeks.

and Indy radio comes (almost) full circle. 93.1 was WIBC-FM until the switch to WNAP in July 1968. Not sure if there was a simulcast at the time or not. They may have simulcast part time. I think FCC regs prohibited total simulcast in the larger markets at the time.

I've learned to never underestimate the impossible, but what's the source for this information?

I guess just ask anyone at Emmis. They're not denying....

October 8th is THE day.

Ok, so Monday October 8th. Circle that day as the beginning of "The Great Indianapolis Format Shuffle of 2007." Expect it to last through Christmas.

We went through all this related speculation last fall.
Among the speculations from the past:
WZPL goes "true" CHR
Someone goes Hot AC. Maybe Track.
"WWFT" does something else - again. Commercial religion sounds good.

WHHH, Q, and WFMS just sit on the sidelines, as the only reason to listen to AM in Indy goes away.

My source at Emmis replied "Not that I'm aware of!"...True, that's not a denial, but it's not a confirmation either.

413 posts on a radio gossip board, I wouldn't tell you either. :D

Luv ya Bob just havin' fun.

There's probably something here. King and Garrison are switching positions and Pige is "leaving". No one is saying who is replacing him. Speculate please.

Don't forget WTPI to go country, The Song to go classic rock, Gary Todd to do mornings at B 105.7, and from 1994 - Lite Rock to replace Oldies at 93.1; and be replaced at 97.1 with Talk WIBC-FM.

Maybe October 8th is the day Christmas music starts. Or is that too late?

Is it just me, or do these rumors start flying when the market has been quiet. Good grief people...it's no wonder that the market is soft. Get back to work!

has ibcfm.com been taken....oh woops....it sure has!!!!

guess you're right, it's nothing!

an Emmis employee should just email a mgr and ask...see if they flat out deny it...or give a bland, corporate answer. "Is WIBC going to 93.1??" easy question, and there's an easy answer.

Well Jeepers Creepers IRG - why don't you explain what rumors on a forum board have to do with the market being 'soft?'

When rumors fly, employees get distracted and forget that there is a job to do...listeners to make happy, things to SELL. Come on now, I've experienced rumors, a flip, a radio group sale....but there are still budgets to be met. Those that can...do. Those that can't...gossip.

Would also like to find out the source of this information. It always seems that someone across the street "knows" a "highly placed source" and the rumor mill is running overtime.

It might make some sense though for WIBC to simulcast on 93.1 and fill in that crappy nighttime signal to the north and to the southwest.

1070 ESPN and 93.1 WIBC. HMMM

This is nothing more than a rumor started by someone in another building. I guarantee it. Radio NOW just had one of its best books in a long time, just hired a new PD, just renewed the contract of its APD/MD/Night Jock, etc, etc, etc.... Nothing is going to happen to that radio station.

The ONLY thing that I could even REMOTELY see happening is that they simulcast WIBC on one of the other, weaker-performing FMs, which could explain the registration of that domain name. (For that matter, who is the domain registered to?) If this situation were to play out, I would expect to see WIBC simulcasted on 97.1, seeing as how HANK can't seem to make up a lot of ground on WFMS.

Radio NOW, however, isn't going anywhere. Mark my words.

That's not true. I find that I can gossip, AND still get my work done if I manage and delegate my gossiping. I limit my gossip to only three times during the day, and only 10 minutes per session. Once BEFORE work (just to get my day started); once during my lunch break (still leaves 20 minutes, plenty of time if you brown-bag it); and once AFTER my shift is complete. I use that 10 minute session while allowing the parking garage to clear out a bit.

The Indy forum (gossip) board isn't as active as some of the other states on here, so 30 minutes per day is usually sufficient. So you see, I CAN gossip, and STILL get my work done!

Yes! WIBC, please quit toying with us and just make a move! You too 107.9 and ESPN!

A whois search reveals that ibcfm.com is registered to an outfit called Belgium Domains out of Miami. The same can't be said or any of the other Emmis domains that I've looked up.

In other words, don't believe it until you see it... er, hear it.
