WIBG99-John Records Landecker-1971

SUPER.. I met him there in the lobby of WIBBAGE with a friend in '71. He was almost nasty and rude..unlike what I expected. He WAS a great jock however..especially listening to this long version of the aircheck. He actually stopped down and TALKED..what a concept.
Wibbage was so freakin' great even then. Met Long John Wade..he was a cool dude..strange but cool. Frank Kingston Smith was the BEST jock in that era at Wibbage..eventually going to the legendary WABC. He let us into the studio where they had a pot that had WFIL on it..so they could listen to what song THEY were playing. I guess the thought was that if they were playing a stiff, Wibbage would play the hot record of the moment..because almost EVERY radio pig would go back and forth between the two fab stations. Those were the days my friends. No one was 'flanking' the other stations in the cluster. There was actual competition between stations. What a concept. Some cities COULD have two great top 40 stations at once. NOW ya get ONE of each narrow niche formats. Bland, boring, and dead. Wake up terrestrial..wake up.
