Having been buried in pre-recorded podcasts for awhile I decided to actually listen to the radio in the car. It looks like WICC is phasing in a new station voice (I heard a few announcements from the previous guy still in their rotation).
The thing that strikes me is that the voice is more reminiscent of Top 40 radio that anything more authoritative that a full service or news station would have. Comparing them to WELI in New Haven, WCBS-AM in New York or WSB in Atlanta (Clark Howard's flagship station) it doesn't see to have the quality that I would associate with a news operation.
Personally I think it was a mistake for them to get rid of Bill Rock.
