WICC-TV, Bridgeport, Conneticut

I'd love to see some listings for this station. It was a struggling UHF trying to make it with ABC and supposedly a ton of local programming. A former disc jockey named Bob Crane was on air talent there, back in the day. According to legend, he was hosting a live afternoon show, and offered $100.00 to the first person to call the station and claim the money.

No callers. (I wonder how much $100.00 was in today's money?)

The station went on air March 29th, 1953 on channel 43.

Thanks!

Comments-4 ABC shows, counting the political talk..Lots of "Film Shorts" Telecomics sounds like the former NBC Telecomics from 1950 that were already outdated in 1956..Nothing listed on Saturday at all...Yet WICC lasted into 1960..Kind of amazing..

Factoid...newscaster Walt Dibble, who was evening anchor on many of WICC-TV's iisted newscasts, later moved to Hartford to run the newsrooms at WDRC and later, that city's big blowtorch WTIC. He was also the father of former Cincinatti Reds relief pitcher (and more recently, cable TV analyst) Rob Dibble.
