Wichita Falls FMs

I noticed the FCC now shows KZAM 98.7 Pleasant Valley/Wichita Falls as licensed and on the air. For anyone in that area, is it actually on?

While we are at it, does anyone know about KRZB 97.5 Archer City/Wichita Falls? That's now been an unbuilt permit for about 10 years now.

If all the stations for that area are built out, that market will double in FM signals. KJKB 95.5 Jacksboro has a pending application to move in. KGVB 90.9 Holliday, new 91.9 Archer City, KXXN 96.3 Iowa Park, KRZB, KZAM, and KAHA 104.3 Olney (co-owned with KZAM) all are new start-up facilities the FCC has granted.

I'm curious about that one, too, since it was a major stumbling block for the whole re-allocation mess that included the KLAK upgrade to Keller. In checking the history of actions for KRZB on the FCC database I see a lot of dismissals and denials, along with petitions for reconsideration (the latest of which was in 2007). Just a guess, but I'd say money is an issue since Texas Grace probably spent a bundle on legal fees to defend their position.

It is, and it isn't. Sometimes it's on, and sometimes it's off. I suspect they turn it on when they've got someone coming up there to check it out (ie, kick the tires) and drive the signal. Once the potential buyer is gone, why keep paying the utility bills? No studio, no staff, no sales effort, liners that sound suspiciously like they were taken off air from a Jack FM station, it's all very bizzare.
