WICI dumps AC for Classic Rock/Hits

As of this afternoon...94.7 is "Bad Dog 94.7".

Calls itself "classic hits" but so far has been straight ahead classic rock with only "Babe" by Styx varying slightly from the format.

All big classic rock hits ("Barracuda", "Feels Like The First Time", "Free Ride", etc).

Seemingly jockless, but too early to tell.

Leaves Sunny 105.5 and 103X alone in the Florence Metro, and tries to take a chunk of Cumulus' only succesful non-urban property (The Fox 102.1).

Interesting tactic, waiting a month into the book to make the switch.

Sounds like an exact replica of their sister station in Orangeburg (Bad Dog 95-7 WWBD) which hit the airwaves around Sept. of 2003. I wonder if Mix in Columbia will change or is 94.7 just cursed? In the last 5 years, theres been Urban (with 2 or 3 name changes), Top 40, Hot AC, and now Classic Rock. Hope Miller finds luck with this format in Flotown. Nothing still compares to the early days of 94.7 when they were urban "Choice FM" and even as early as 4 years ago when Miller acquired them when they were a great top 40.Neil

WICI has gone through a lot of format changes in its 10 uear history... When me and mi wife was visiting SC back in the summer I liked how mix sounded... It was kinda like Jack, but without the name... Rock should do ok for miller, but he seems to only give a format 2 years IE Mix version 1 CHR Mix version 2 Hot AC and now Classic Rock... The only problem I can see is that both ICI and Foxx cover the same area and from the sounds of it have the same playlist which means in another 24 months ICI will change again... MXT has been around since 98 and longer if you count The Foxx when it was on WHSC in Hartsville when The Cloud Company took things over... The Foxx sounded pretty solid when I was in SC and I really don't see things changing that much... CC
