Wide Spread FM E-Skip Monday and Tuesday.

There were some pretty good FM skip conditions here in Poughkeepsie both 6/25 and 6/26 evenings, and there are reports of skip through much of the day in places farther west.

Two stand-out loggings for me:

WTQT-94.9, Baton Rouge, LA, a Low Power FM with 71 watts. Religious programming. I heard them Monday 6/25 at 7:35pm. My first LPFM on E-Skip.

KAMX-94.7 Lulling (San Antonio) Texas, Mix 94.7, heard 6/25 at 7:00pm. They are Texas #27 here on FM since May 2003, and my most-distant Texas FM at 1550 miles. (99000 watts).

We're in the peak of the DX season now, so look for farily frequency E-skip.

I hate to break it to you, but KAMX is Mix out of Austin Texas. Its COL is Luling which is about 20-30 miles southeast of Austin where I-10 and US HWY 183 meet. Funny you say San Antonio because the edge of their signal range touches the Northeast coner of (San Antonio) Cibilo,Shertz

Also, for reference, the KAMX antenna is located a few miles northwest of downtown Austin. That places it 1543 miles from Poughkeepsie. Minor details...still a great catch, though!
 
Got a bunch of Gulf Coast stuff in Minnesota as well -- I wonder if this opening had anything to do with the massive storms down there. Can't say I logged any LPFMs (WOW, dx1ng!!), but I did snag WCPR on 97.9 from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, 95.7 KARX - Claude, TX, 103.3 KBIU (urban format from Baton Rouge), and 97.9 KBXX-Houston, all in the space of about 15 minutes on my car radio in St. Paul.

I guess I was tired when I posted the above. I know KAMX is Austin and not San Antonio; I even heard the top of the hour ID as "Luling - Austin". The signal was kind of weak, and WTQT with 71 watts in Lousiana actually came in a lot better. I still don't really believe WTQT was only 71 watts; it sounded like 5000 watts, easy.

No skip here Wednesday, and tonight just a hint of Florida at the very low end of the dial. I did get some trop, with WZXL-100.7 Wildwood, NJ at 189 miles Wedneday with local WHUD-100.7 off the air for a couple hours, and tonight I just added WVLY-100.9 "The Valley" Milton, Pa at 159 miles.

Heading to work in Newark, Ohio on Tuesday, I heard 96.3 KSSH-FM from Dodge City, Kansas giving local rocker WLVQ fits about 35 miles from downtown Columbus. Same case over at 107.9, where WODB/Delaware was being flat clobbered by KPAW 107.9 from Fort Collins, Colo. KPAW was easy to I.D., as the DJ said it was 12:19, two hours behind Ohio, and I heard an ID with something to effect of "rock hits for southern Colorado."
The Dodge City station was tougher, because WLVQ is still pretty strong in Newark. I heard "Super Hits 96.3," then a commercial for a Bailey's Body Shop. I googled the business and tied the two together very quickly.
As I don't DX FM much (I just enjoy AM DX a lot more), this was pretty cool for me.
 
The 6/28 e-skip was exciting to say the least! In Coldwater, MI, I worked two separate E clouds. One of them brought me two new stations, including KOAY 97.5 from Utah! My first UT station. And as the e-skip was winding down, I worked the Gulf Coast e-skip and got WMJY 93.7 from Biloxi, MS.

Perhaps the most exciting thing about this e-skip was ALMOST wiping out local 50kw WNWN from only 7 miles away!! I had them down to a 1 on my signal meter and there were very clear signs of interference, but nothing that could completely override the strong signal.

Is there any way to post audio clips in here? If so, I would love to post the clip.

That's MIX 100. Not 'Magic 100" as you indicated above (The word MIX is even in their logo. If you went to their website, you would notice this).

And the promo was most likely for the Dom & Jane Morning Show

From Englewood FL got 96.5 WAKS Akron on Sat afternoon-numerous references to the Cleveland Akron area. My first e-skip station. It was weak; 15 min later was receiving the Orlando area station on 96.5.
 
from my hole in central maine yesterday i got 92.5 from Tomahawk, WI WJJQ (983 miles) and KQ92 KQRS "Minnesota's Classic Rock" from the Twin Cities (1162 miles)

what was weird about these catches is that was the only frequency (other than a few non-comms I didn't ID) I got anything out of the ordinary
 
Not that weird if the Maximum Usable Freq was below 93mhz. That would have limited reception to what was logged and perhaps a few non-comms that weren't in long enough for an ID. Great catches in any case...
