I'm going to tell you what I heard on WERE (now on 1490 AM ) and hope that, assuming it's on this coming week at the same time, some of you will tune in, even for a little bit, and tell me what you think. Between 6:30 and 7:00 pm on Wednesday 9/29/10 I put it on and heard the middle of some sort of relaxation show, which played like a relaxation tape you might buy via mail order. A soft spoken lady, accompanied by what might be called "Jazz based muzak", was saying and occasionally softly singing existential things. Problem was that when she sings a long note, she overpowers the serene music behind her and it's as annoying as any Hard Rock screamer. And you thought you have to tune into some college radio show to hear "wierd". Ha! Not so!
No necessarily 'wierd' was what followed. Well known attorney Stanley Tolliver doing an interview with an African-American police officer. They talked about his work, along with racism and discrimination Black police officers have experienced.
Brokered programming.
