WIFI 1460/92.9

The station is all over the damn place. Their one-liners are segued into a mash up of songs from the early 2000’s with some moniker like where hit music lives. I don’t know where they’re getting their hit music from, but 2009 called. they want their collection back. The audio is so distorted as well. When I contacted the station months ago on Facebook to tell them that they might want to check the profanity and ask when they plan to bring an air talent and they said within a few months. Well they’ve been operating the LMA since October and it’s now March. How can a station keep running jockless for all these months? Honestly the station sounds like a glorified high school station. This company also said that they’re gonna bring their Spanish tropical CHR format to 98.5 somewhere out of Trenton months ago. Also, another empty promise.

At least WIFI is keeping things interesting!

They’ve now added two commercials in English and a few PSAs in Spanish. The commercials are for a car detailing shop and a tax prep service. Both in Camden. Beyond that they have shifted the music to a somewhat more adult focused top 40.

There are 4 other CHR stations audible within 92.9’s coverage area, all of which have bigger signals.
It’s interesting using the name “WiFi 92.9” as their call letters predate WiFi even being a thought. Reminds me of the name Wired 96.5.

I believe WIFI stood for "HiFi" back when 92.5 signed on in 1958. (WIFI was owned by Hi-Fidelity Broadcasters Corporation.) LPs and HiFi systems to play them on were gaining popularity. Stereo LPs were on the horizon.

"Wired," of course was the fallback when Wild was bounced by Clear Channel which claimed a 'Wild' copyright.

I listened online for quite a while last week. Heard a commercial in English for a cellphone repair shop that has 4 locations - 3 in Camden and 1 in Philly along with a couple Spanish commercials. Maybe they were PSAs too. I heard the station mention on-air that they play some throwbacks. - When will they become available on Tune-in?

They have a link on their webpage for a stream, but I'm not sure if its working. Actually, I'm not sure if the station is working at all right now. They were broadcasting dead air a couple of days ago.

I love the music on the station! They played a great song today by dead-air supply followed by enjoy the silence.

yes, it is still dead air. It’s been this way for over a week. And why bother complaining to the FCC? They have yet to respond back to my complaints about the profanity. This is truly a waste of a community station that could have been great.

Really sad. Heck at this point I'd love to volunteer to help as a hobby. This area could really use a local station.

Exactly!!! They could use some help right now. Looks like the internet is still down or maybe they just didn’t pay their ISP?

It really is a waste of a station. It’s the same one liners, the same repetitive playlist of songs from 15 years ago, the same Spanish PSA’s overlapping one another on an English language station. They really are all over the effing place.. they took over the station in October and still jock-less 6 months later. Seems like a really overpriced iPod shuffle.

Perhaps they do not read this board. If you are that interested in what they're doing or not doing, why not try to reach out directly and offer to assist in some way. Then perhaps you can understand what they may be up against on their side of things. I'd be willing to bet they would be pleased to have someone share insight or suggestions...

I have reached out to them about several things... including their original issue of profanity on their playlist. Only response I ever received was regarding an additional post on Facebook about the inappropriate content and they basically said ok. No other acknowledgment.
I really don’t think they care to be honest.

Sad to say when the late Mike Venditti and his wife took control of the station in the early 90's, it was a Jesus praising facility, now look at the drek its spewing, same path that many US stations are taking. My generation had the Beatles, Frankie, Elvis, Tops, Temps, etc and these kids have Bad Bunny lmao.

And the Vendittis were just operating the place, not as owners (they did go on to own half of WNJC). "Starsounds Gold" and some Christian preaching. That's when 1460 acquired the WIFI calls. (Mike Venditti also grabbed the WIBG calls for 1020 down-the-shore several years earlier).

Shortly thereafter, 1460 made some rent money when WWJZ diplexed on the WIFI towers during WWJZ's last days as a standards station, pre-Disney. WWJZ's studios were down one end of the church's second floor hallway, and WRLB/WIFI's were at the other end. The two successors to the original 1460 WJJZ Mt. Holly, under the same roof for several years. A very storied history behind those signals.
