Mark has many intelligent thoughts on the future of radio.
I also believe that he and Leonard have made the point that while broadcasters are "fiddling while Rome burns" by throwing cash, wasting time, and devoting attention with problematic iBiquity HD radio, (and laying off programmers and talent to pay for it). A young, hungry, growing, giant (wireless, internet, and other digital media) has started eyeing and nibbling at their lunch.
If broadcasters had any better programming to offer, wouldn't they put it on their main analog channels to make immediate cash, and not on HD2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, where it costs, and won't make a dime?
Instead of entertaining, imaginative, creative programming and personnel, broadcasting has devolved to creative, unprincipled, accountants, bookkeepers, lawyers, lobbyists, stock speculators, bankers, promoters, etc. Talent need not apply.

Love it. My "WIFI radio" cord doesn't reach behind the Crepe Myrtle in my back yard. Can you help me???

Never mind, my WiFi Signal doesn't work there either.

Your lack of understand how things work is totally mind boggling. Wi Max can provide range. That is not the issue. The issue is BANDWIDTH. But you hadnt considered that had you.

"Wi-fi Radio in the Wings"

"What this means, of course, is that Wi-fi radio is poised to be widely available on belt clips and dashboards sooner rather than later. Factor in the appearance of proposed Wi-max networks, some of which are rolling out as this is story being written, and it's not hard to see where radio may be heading. And while it's a great time for those who love the idea of unlimited choice in radio programming, it's just one more shot across the bow for the traditional broadcast model across America."
