WIFL Inglis

WIFL changed its call letters to WOGF July 22, and changed again on December 28 to WYKE-FM. An application for "transfer of control" was also filed in July to transfer WOGF's license from Nature Coast Broadcasting, Inc. (A Delaware Corporation) to Radio Florida USA, LLC (A Florida limited liabity company). Another application for "Transfer of Control" was filed December 29th as part of a pending Chapter 11 bankruptcy (Debtor in Possession Reorganization). As for WOGF, now WYKE-FM, returning to the air, I was told it would be on the air this week; However, I have not tuned in to verify whether or not 104.3 made it back on the air.

Duh oh, I thought I had put it on the N Florida board! Hmmmmmm, another senior moment, or a senor' moment with my friend Jose Cuervo!

As of late Wednesday afternoon (12/29/10) it was not on the air as I drove through Inglis. The reason I even knew about this was a comment I made to a friend in Dunellon about the terrible audio quality 104.3 had as I scanned the band during a previous trip up north. He got around to tuning in this week to listen for himself and found silence. So you can truly say, this station went from bad to worse.

There are legal issues at hand with pending Federal litigation which I cannot comment relating to any of the details at this time. I suspect this matter will be in the courts for sometime until the matter can be resolved.

Oh well... did anyone listen to WIFL/WOGF anyway? ;D

Up until the station was taken off the air, WOGF had listeners and was also the flagship station for a national talk radio network.

This is the station that was once "Frank 104" and changed formats every 3 months or so, correct? Doesn't help when you can't have an identity....

The former WIFL (2000-2010) was Frank 104, Sinatra and More longer than three months and morphed into Frank Talk 104 which it remained until just before Christmas when all the legal issues came to a head. The call letter change to WOGF (2010) was the first time 104.3 changed call letters in over ten years, having previously held the WHGN call letters (1998-2000) and originating as WAVQ (1993-1998) when the frequency signed on the air in 1996.

For a brief time the call letters WIFL were assigned to (I)slamorada (FL)orida. Locals called it "Wiffle".

What is now WKEZ 96.9 Plantation Key was indeed WIFL as a CP, but I really do not think that it ever made the air as WIFL.

No way does this signal adequetely cover this market. Truly a joke, all this clutter on the FM dial, with these stations supposedly "serving" local communities.

Unreal....

No one said nor implied the station covered the market. The question asked was, and I am paraphrasing, what does the WOGF call sign stand for which is "We're Ocala Gainesville Florida".
