fwillis said:They seem to be ABC country with a daily hour of gospel Mon-Fri.,and True Oldies on the weekend.Diversified programing,to say the least.
Tru Oldies is a weekend format only. WIFO has always employed block formatting/programming. You've overlooked the Gospel/Church Programming 6-Noon Sunday. News and farm intensive AM,(time, not band) yes, obits at noon Swap Shop AM's and PM's. It works. Still. Music is just the glue that holds the rest of the format together.JeffMcDermott said:I don't think it's so strange. Variety-block programming is a hallmark of small-town radio. When I was at WZYX-AM 1440 in Cowan, TN, we were ALL OVER the road, with country and Top 40. Church programs and Southern (read: "white") gospel on Sunday, news- and farm-intensive mornings, obits and swap-n-shops around midday. Even in a larger town like Savannah, as late as 1990 WAEV played AC during the week, and the locally-driven "Smokin' Oldies Weekend" beginning Fridays at 5.
