WIGV-LP 96.5 is now on the air in South Providence.

So long W243AI in Newport and WTIC-FM DX...

Don't worry. I'm sure you can get the same songs on Pro FM. It'll be ok.

I just tuned in. It sounds like the station is being run by Ricky Ricardo.

I wonder if an adjacent frequency run by Fred Mertz will try to jam the signal... ;D

It's Spanish religious programming.

Not the same programming on the nearby Pirate on 104.3

.

Spanish and Religion.... hmm...... there you go. Those certainly are two Powerhouse formats rolled into one! ;)

Duh...that is why it is Lp station

It's an LP station because it is Spanish and Religious? Hmmm.... that's some intresting logic you've got going there. As far as I know stations are not LP status because of their format. I thought you knew a little more about radio than that. I guess not.

No, John...again you are inferring something OTHER than what I meant. It is a low power station down in the non commercial band and because there aren't any frequencies avail in our area without massive tweaks to signal for protections to adjacent signals/markets. Mainly, the LP licenses are being handed out to religious organizations, or have you not been reading any trade material over the last 5-10 years!?!

You are correct. I haven't been reading any trade material. Well occasionally a Billboard Magazine. Sometimes Radio & Records. Of course I come here as well. Let's put it this way. You are a better student than I am. You keep yourself more involved in the business. I on the other hand don't really care to follow every tidbit of information going on in broadcasting. There is way to much happening that I couldn't care less about. If it's important enough to the industry, then I will see it on the front page somewhere.
