WIIN getting translator

Looks like NewSouth radio has purchased W224BV Cedar Hills. According to the application to transfer the license, it's supposed to rebroadcast WIIN. I haven't checked lately, but not long ago, WIIN was rebroadcasting US96.3. I wonder if 780 is gonna try to make a go of it again, and if so, with what format? Surely they won't broadcast 96.3 on 780 and 92.7.

Time to bring back Blues 780! I sometimes pick up that little 92.7 around Brandon. I'm surprised it gets out that far with it's flea power. Are you sure it's only 30 watts?

I mentioned on the Jack/Rock thread that I think it's unlikely a rock format will appear on that frequency. But I am quite interested in what the Radio People will put there.

If it does and AFA complains it will have to be shut off. There is a story in the news about a light jazz station in Detroit that was on the same frequency as a Station in Toledo, OH that caused the translator to br shut off. I do think that the potential interference will be in the Jackson area, and it won't affect AFR in the Meridian and Forest Area.

and surely some $$ could sweeten the deal if they wanted to make an agreement with the AFA to not complain.

If were New South, I'd move 92.7 to 93.1 since that frequency is no longer around here. Plus, it would not be on any adjacent channels and will not interefere with 93.5 or the 93.1 frequencies in Hattiesburg and Alexandria. Heck, why not make it a full-power signal on 93.1?

I don't know... since it would be a second adjacent to 93.5 - you would have to watch out for first adjacent 92.9 in Hazlehurst too. It will be tough to find a usable frequency - not impossible, but tough. I know the consulting engineers they use - they are very good, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
